Sozopol, standing some 35 km south of Bourgas on a rocky peninsula, is one of the most charming villages on the Black Sea coast and another of Bulgaria's pearls. Founded in the 7th Century BC, this was the first coastal Greek colony and today its distinctive nineteenth-century stone and wood houses make Sozopol a popular tourist resort.
Further south, the the long sweeping beaches and the nature and forest reserves beyond Dyuni remind one of the green English countryside set by the Mediterranean sea! The wetlands attract both migrating birds and tourists and the whole area has huge potential for future tourist growth. The coastline from Kavartsi to Tsarevo has long been busy with summer tourists at the family camp-sites and small resorts set on lovely beaches backed by wooded hills, while the more rugged coastline to Sinemorits and beyond, interspersed with lovely sandy coves, has charm and much potential.
There are, as yet, few modern resort complexes along the south coast and the potential to invest in the most recent developments, at very economic prices, presents a great opportunity for those who are looking for capital gain.
