Situated at 1350m on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain, just 75 km from Sofia, Borovets enjoys a long ski season, with more than 1.5m of snow cover from November to May. It lies at the foot of the highest mountain (2925m) in the Balkan Peninsula and has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds and provides excellent opportunities for a whole range of winter sports. Ski runs of varying difficulty cater for the full range of skill levels and a ski school with highly qualified English speaking instructors, as well as state-of-the-art equipment rentals.
The resort is also a favorite summer vacation spot, with clean and fresh air, alpine meadows carpeted with flowers and herbs, blue lakes, pine forests and majestic peaks and many hiking routes in the Rila Mountains.
The resort developed gradually from a 19th century royal hunting area into a modern ski resort with luxury hotels and restaurants and a wide range of leisure and entertainment opportunities. Off the piste, Borovets boasts a number of luxury hotels, providing most modern amenities, leisure facilities and a great night life, with many restaurants, bars and clubs.
All in all, Borovets is a place to watch for property investors – but don’t leave it too late, there could well be a boom from next year!
